چکیده

We report the detection of the 101-000 line of linear C3H2, an isomer of the ubiquitous cyclic C3H2, toward the sources W51E1/E2, W51D, and W49. The line is seen in absorption against the radio continuum of these sources. The column density of l-C3H2 is very low, with typical values of a few 1011 cm−2. The abundance ratio between the cyclic and linear isomers of C3H2 is found to be 3–5 in the sources where l-C3H2 has been detected. Toward Sgr B2 and 3C 123, we derive for the abundance ratio 3σ lower limits of 150 and 1, respectively. The abundance ratio between cyclic and linear C3H2 in the diffuse interstellar medium appears to be an order of magnitude lower than the value obtained in TMC1 by Cernicharo et al. (1991a). This difference is probably a consequence of the distinct mechanisms leading to the destruction of the cyclic and linear isomers and/or their progenitor ions. Upper limits to the column density of C6H, the J=15/2–13/2 lines of which are within the observed frequency range, have also been obtained in the same sources.

A study of the C3H2 isomers and isotopologues: first interstellar detection of HDCCC⋆

The partially deuterated linear isomer HDCCC of the ubiquitous cyclic carbene (c-C3H2) was observed in the starless cores TMC-1C and L1544 at 96.9 GHz, and a confirming line was observed in TMC-1 at 19.38 GHz. To aid the identification in these narrow line sources, four centimetre-wave rotational transitions (two in the previously reported Ka = 0 ladder, and two new ones in the Ka = 1 ladder), ...

First Detection of c-C3H2 in a Circumstellar Disk

We report the first detection of c-C3H2 in a circumstellar disk. The c-C3H2 J=6− 5 line (217.882 GHz) is detected and imaged through Atacama Large Millimeter Array (ALMA) Science Verification observations toward the disk around the Herbig Ae star HD 163296 at 0.8 resolution. The emission is consistent with that arising from a Keplerian rotating disk. Two additional c-C3H2 transitions are also t...

The inhomogeneous ISM toward PKS 1830–211 SW: A detailed view of molecular gas at a look-back time of 7.5 Gyr⋆

Based on measurements with the Effelsberg 100-m telescope, a multiline study of molecular species is presented toward the southwestern source of the gravitational lens system PKS 1830–211, which is by far the best known target for studying molecular gas in absorption at intermediate redshift. Determining line parameters and optical depths and performing large velocity gradient radiative transfe...

DETECTION OF 21 CENTIMETER H i ABSORPTION AT Z = 0.78 IN A SURVEY OF RADIO CONTINUUM SOURCES

We report the detection of a deep broad H I 21 cm absorption system at z = 0.78 toward the radio source [HB89] 2351+456 (4C+45.51) at z = 1.992. The H I absorption was identified in a blind spectral line survey conducted at the Green Bank Telescope spanning 0.63 < z < 1.10 toward a large sample of radio continuum sources. The H I column density is NHI = 2.35×10 (Ts/f) cm , where Ts is the spin ...

CYCLOPROPENONE (c-H2C3O): A NEW INTERSTELLAR RING MOLECULE

The three-carbon keto ring cyclopropenone (c-H2C 3O) has been detected largely in absorption with the 100 m Green Bank Telescope (GBT) toward the star-forming region Sagittarius B2(N) by means of a number of rotational transitions between energy levels that have energies less than 10 K. Previous negative results from searches for interstellar c-H2C3O by other investigators attempting to detect ...
